Day 12: Elijah
Read: 1 Kings 17:8-24

Think: Where in your life have you seen God provide when it seemed like there was no hope, like the way Elijah provided for the widow and her son? What areas of your life always seem to have “leftovers?”

Hope: Although it can be frustrating, God doesn’t work on our timetable. Oftentimes, God seems late. “But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:31 ESV)

Pray: God, as I look back at my life, I can see that you have always provided for me even if it wasn’t in the way I expected. Help me to remember that you are always faithful and that I can count on you to be with me through anything I go through.

Apply: Ask your parents if they would be willing to donate $20 to Compassion International, International Justice Mission, or another ministry that your church sponsors in place of one of their gifts to you this Christmas.
